SRISHTI KE NAVRAS AUR AUM: ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

Our school proudly celebrated its grand Annual Day on 14th January 2015 at Talkatora Stadium to commemorate the beginning of its Silver Jubilee Year presented by around 850 students. The function was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Smt. Salma Ansari, Renowned Social Reformer and W/O His Excellency Shri Hamid Ansari-Vice President of India, as our Hon’ble Chief Guest. Smt. Usha Kumari, Regional Director (East) & Addl. Dir. Edn. (Schools) was our Guest of Honour.  The soulful presentation by the school band “SHOWSTOPPERS” left an impressionable mark on everyone. ‘Abhinandan-a musical bouquet of Folk Songs’ was presented to extend traditional welcome to all the guests & parents.  Principal Vandana Kapoor in her School Report highlighted the success journey of the school and the milestones achieved in its 24 years of dynamic existence as premier institute for Academic Excellence.

The programme was given an extra shine by the presence of our successful and celebrated Alumni from varied professional fields like Fashion, Banking, Merchant Navy, I.T. Sector, Finance, Martial Arts and Academics etc. who were felicitated by our Hon’ble Chief Guest. As our ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ towards helping street children, a group of ten students from Bapu Public School, Bhagwan Pura Basti, run by AL Noor Charitable Trust under the aegis of Smt. Salma Ansari, were also felicitated on this occasion.

In a magnificent performance, the dance ballet, “Srishti Ke Navras aur Aum: Emancipation of Aum–The Ultimate Goal and Colours of Life, conceptualized by Principal Vandana Kapoor, scripted, recorded and choreographed by the school faculty, mesmerized one and all. The ballet took all on a journey of human life which evolves from AUM and dissolves into AUM In the process, human life passes through different phases called the ‘NAVRAS’. The performance was also complemented by High definition graphics on a big LED Screen in the backdrop. 

All our learned guests appreciated the school Principal, staff and students for their tireless and industrious efforts in presenting the show and applauded the achievements of the school in providing quality education and grooming the wholesome personality of the students focusing on the character-building.

STHAPANA DIWAS

It was a proud moment for the Management, staff, students and last but not the least our parents, when all gathered at SLS DAV Public School, Mausam Vihar to perform 11 Kundiya Yajya on its Sthapna Diwas (12th Dec. 2014) to mark the beginning of its Silver Jubilee Celebrations, Kshitij ki Aur.

The day began with Dhwajarohan, by Hon’ble Dr. Nisha Peshin, Director, Public Schools, DAVCMC, school Chairman Sh. M.L Sekhri, School Manager Dr. S.R.Arora, Sh. J. P. Kapur and Principal Ms. Vandana Kapoor. The Yajya was attended largely by Principals of sister DAV Schools, LMC members, alumni, parents as well as students.  After Purnahuti, the gathering was addressed by Dr. Nisha Peshin and Dr. Sarita Rai Education Officer, Zone III Directorate of Education. They praised the efforts of founder Principal and her team, whose efforts helped school reach such great heights.

KSHITIJ KI AUR: INTER-SCHOOL COMPETITIONS

The school hosted an array of activities during a two-day event of Inter-School Competitions titled Kshitij Ki Aur in November 2014. The event aimed at bringing brains & spirits together through a variety of fun-filled and amazing activities of intellect & skills. Activities like Tangrams, Product Designing, Audio Twist, Mime Show, Treasure Hunt, Jhankaar Beats, Youth Ink, Magical Dance Troupe, Glamorous Science, Zentangle (Doodling), Incredible India (Tribal Dance), The Mighty Pen, I & My Words (Role-Play) etc. were organized in Competitive Category. The Judges for various events comprised of our Alumni Stars & experts from industry & other sectors. Sagar Bhatia-Challenger at India’s Raw Star & our Alumni came to judge Music & Dance Competitions. We got a tremendous response in the form of participants from a large number of schools-both DAV & non-DAV schools.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

A blood donation camp was organized at SLS DAV Public School Mausam Vihar Delhi on Saturday 8th November 2014, in collaboration with Rotary Club, Delhi Vikas. The Camp received an overwhelming response from parents as well as volunteer donors, who lined up since morning. Even school alumni, teachers and Class IV employees were enthusiastic donors. Some donors also got the opportunity to donate live blood as a crucial surgery was going on at All India Institute of Medical Sciences. In all 140 units of blood were collected in the school, 3 volunteers from the school directly donated at AIIMS.

DAV GLOBAL HAAT

Under the aegis of ISA Project of the British Council, students of Classes IX-XII hosted, organized, presented & staged different countries of the world like Egypt, Italy, Australia, South Africa, France, Russia & China. The students under the guidance of their teachers researched extensively on these countries to showcase their history, political scenario, governance, culture, tradition, rituals, lifestyle, fashion, clothing, business & trade, music & dance, art & architecture, law & order situation, judiciary, economy, food & cuisines, demography, population, education etc. through Power Point Presentations, Models & Exhibits, skits & Plays & Cultural Performances. High Profile Diplomats were invited for these events who appreciated the efforts and presentation of students whole-heartedly. The guests included Mr. K.P. Fabian, Mr. Sajjanhaar, Mr. S.S. Mukherjee, Mr. Rakesh Sood, Mr. Dwivedi who have represented India in these countries as Ambassadors. We also had guests from Italian News Agency & Russian Cultural Centre.

SCHOOL ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE: MAGIC HANDS

The school participated in the School Enterprise Challenge of British Council-a unique International Business Competition for school students, aiming to identify and reward social entrepreneurs of tomorrow. This challenge is supported by ‘Teach a Man to Fish’-an International Education Charity. The school took up “Clay Art” as their enterprise and put up an exhibition-cum-sale of clay & pottery products successfully. The team cleared all the rounds of the challenge.

DISHA & PRADYOTNAM

The Counselling Department of the school conducted a series of programmes for students, teachers and parents under the aegis of DISHA & PRADYOTNAM. Interactive Counselling Sessions on Vedic Maths, Cracking Entrance Examination, Career Orientation, Adolescence Issues & Concerns, Mindfulness in Education, Tips to prepare for Examination, Handling Examination Stress, Time Management etc were organized for the students. Experts and Counsellors from various organizations like Pratham, EduMentor, New Parameter, Centre for Career Development etc. conducted sessions along with our Counsellors. Annual Career Fair, DISHA-CONFLUENCE was organized for students of Classes IX-XII & their parents in collaboration with Centre-for Career Development headed by Mr. Jitin Chawla.

Dr. J.P. Kapoor & Dr. Ashok Kumar also conducted sessions on Substance Abuse, Life-Skills and Adolscence Issues for students & teachers. School Counsellors also conducted sessions on Mindfulness for Group-D employees. The Primary deptt. conducted an Experience Sharing Session to share Best Teaching Practices.

EXPRESSIONS

The English Department organized a Press Conference YUCCA wherein the students acted as journalists & posed a variety of questions to a learned panel consisting of Sh. S.K. Gangal-educationist, Ms. Preeti Bhutani-President, Prayatna Educational Society, & School Counsellor based on Education System & present condition of Youth. A Radio Show was also held where the children discussed various contemporary issues regarding Education System, Value System through ad jingles, songs & interview of relevant celebrities. Activities like Rhythmics, English Quiz, Turn Coat, Ignited Minds, Our Perspective at various levels were also organized to promote the proficiency in the English language. Mr. Opkar Singh, Educational Consultant to CBSE & Ms. Nilam Katara from British Council were our learned guests.

FRENCH MILIEU

Group Songs, Fancy Dress, Dialogue Composition, Song Enactment, Presentations etc. brought the essence of French language to the audience. Mr. Anil Khetrapal & Ms. Preeti Bhutani were our special invitees.

STROTASVINI

Hindi Diwas was celebrated with great enthusiasm including programmes like Play, Music & Dance Performances, Characterisation, Role Play etc. Principal Vandana Kapoor insisted on raising the standards of the Hindi language.

The Mathematics Deptt. of the school conducted activities like Fun With Maths, Mathematics Debate, Maths Quest, Digital Mathematics Rangoli etc. for the students of all the departments.

The school organized & conducted many Special Assemblies in the session 2014-2015 to mark various events of importance like Earth Day, World Population Day, Global Handwash Day, Diwali, Christmas, Terra Madre, World Hepatitis Day, Computer Literacy Day, National Education Day, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, National Unity Day, World Human Rights Day, Teacher’s Day, Martyr’s Day etc.

SPORTY ZEST

The Sports Deptt. of the school organized many games & sports activities for the students like Chess, Carrom, Badminton, Yoga, & a lot of fun games. A new game-Tchouckball has also been introduced in the school & our P.E.Ts Mr. Dharmender Kumar & Ms. Seema Rani have been certified as Offficial trainers.

DUSSEHRA MELA & BAL RAMAYAN

Students of Class III organized a Dussehra Mela to catch up the festive spirit of Navratras & Vijayadashmi. The students of Class II staged the story of Epic Ramayana which was highly appreciated by Mrs. Naresh Arora-an eminent Educationist who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

HEALTH WEEK

With an aim to spread awareness towards good health and personal hygiene, the students of Classes I-V participated in many activities like Fitness Exercises, Yoga, Skits, Demonstrations, Presentations etc. during Health & Fitness Week.

ASTRO CLUB

The Astro Club of the School in collaboration with Zeelife conducted an Evening Sky Watch Workshop for the students & their parents in the school campus in addition to many other interesting activities to study the Universe through hands-on.

ANVESHAN

Prof. R.D. Shukla, Former Head, DESM, NCERT & Prof. N.K. Sehgal, Retd. Prof. (Physics), Hans Raj College, were our learned judges for the event-Hands On Experiments in Science in which students of Classes VI-XII exhibited their Scientific temper, attitude, rigour & skills.

ACTIVITIES BY NURSERY DEPARTMENT

The Nursery Deptt. of the school conducted beautiful activities for the tiny tots like Water-Play, Sand-Play, Fancy Dress, Recitation, Story-Telling, Fun-Games, Puppet-Show, Magic Show etc. The kids also staged wonderful programmes on the occasion of Independence Day, Janamashtami, Teacher’s Day, Republic Day, Children’s Day, and Christmas.

TERRA-the Planet of LIFE: The students of Pre-Primary presented a highly informative, theme-based dance show called Terra-the Planet of LIFE in which they highlighted the most sensitive issue of Environmental Degradation, showing concern towards the issue & the need to conserve the Environment.

GRANDPARENTS’ DAY: The bubbly kids of Pre-School invited their Grandparents for a fun-filled day wherein they entertained them with lovely cultural programmes and fun-games.

GRADUATION DAY: Dr. S.R. Arora, Secretary DAVCMC & Manager of the School, Mrs. Naresh Arora, Mrs. Rajinder Narula-OSD DAV Academic Audit graced the occasion with their benign presence wherein they awarded  Graduation Certificates to the students of Pre-Primary on their entry into the Elementary Deptt. It was a grand cultural extravaganza presented by toddlers of Pre-Primary which was very well received by parents and guests both.

PM’s LIVE ADDRESS

The school arranged for the viewing and screening of Hon’ble PM’s Live Address on the occasion of Teachers’ Day for the students & staff. Ten Nodes were created for the same. The event was covered live by Doordarshan in our school. The media persons interacted with Principal & Students both. Students turned up in great numbers to be a part of this historic event.

APPRECIATION DAY

The academically meritorious students and the students who had done extremely well in co-curricular activities from all the classes were awarded with trophies, certificates on Appreciation Day. Special recognition was given to the students with 100% attendance, good behavior & all those EWS students who have achieved meritorious position in Academics.

REPUBLIC DAY

The school marked 66th Republic Day through a jubilant cultural programme including Flag Hoisting, Salute by the Marching Squad, Performance by All Girls’ Pipe Band, Physical Display through Yoga, Aerobics & Gymnastics, Musical presentation by School Choir Group, & Dance Show based on patriotic theme.

SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAAN

Our school wholeheartedly supported the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan called off by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Students participated in a rally in the adjoining areas of the school to convey the message of ‘Swacchata’ & the importance of ‘National Unity’ in the present scenario. The students & staff took the pledge to make cleanliness their habit & also conducted Cleanliness Drive in the school.

  • Messengers of Peace: The team of Malaysian Scout Association led by Mr. Amir Hamza, Member Asia-Pacific Regional Programme Sub-Committee visited our school and presented a memento to Principal Vandana Kapoor in recognition and acknowledgement of our involvement in the Messengers of Peace International Campaign. This Campaign was flagged off from our school & then travelled throughout the world.
